From retrofit to building platform

SymmetryX Technologies S.L. turns the ceiling into infrastructure. The invention originates in Lübeck — it is developed, manufactured and scaled from the Canary Islands.

The vision

Conceived in three phases

PHASE A

Retrofit

Adapter retrofit: an adapter brings the magnetic MagnaX-Lock connection to existing E27 and GU10 sockets — with no structural work. First market entry with pilot projects.

PHASE B

Native sockets

Native MagnaX-Lock sockets for new builds, together with luminaire manufacturers (OEM). Higher efficiency.

PHASE C

Building infrastructure

DC-based supply (MagnaX-Core DC), large-scale building & campus solutions, long-term standards.

The story behind it

Twenty years under the ceiling

SymmetryX was born not in a lab but on stage — across two decades of event technology. The story of an idea that began with an ordinary ceiling lamp.

From show technology

Founder Johannes Hamann comes from event and show technology (founder of Nexus, Lübeck). Two decades of moving light and radio-based control protocols such as Art-Net and Wireless DMX — a field where light, networking and control have long belonged together.

"Anyone who directs light by radio across an entire hall eventually thinks further — beyond the stage."

The evening with the ceiling lamp

The trigger came not in the office but on an ordinary evening at home.

"The power is already in every room, perfectly positioned. Why do we use the socket for light only? That one night, a question became a system."

The pace

From the first concept to a comprehensive IP portfolio took around three months — a fraction of the usual time. Today, SymmetryX is backed by a solid core team, supported by a law firm, a patent attorney and university partners.

Costa Calma

The operational anchor is Costa Calma on Fuerteventura. Here SymmetryX is building up development and production — and considers social responsibility (e.g. housing for employees) from the very start.
